Now that it is getting cold out, most events in Southeast Idaho are moving indoors! That should be plenty of incentive to get out and enjoy all the city has to offer in the way of art and entertainment.

Don't forget that the First Friday Art Walk is tonight in Old Town Pocatello. As always, Old Town merchants will be showcasing art and music by local talent, and many will offer light refreshments and beverages as well.

A highlight of tonight's walk will be the art of art work of Darrin Ricks and Andre Hogan at Main Street Coffee and News, 234 N. Main St., Pocatello, from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

Another highlight will be a gallery opening for the "4 x "4" exhibit from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Gate City Fine Arts Gallery at 315 W. Center St. in Pocatello. Idaho State University students Rachel Frances Anderson, Chelsey Keim, Rochelle Krevitsky and Christa Landon will each be displaying four pieces of their work.

Also, the artwork of Linda Wolfe, Penelope Reedy, Eliza Schmidt and JoAnn Crane will be for sale this weekend as part of the annual Christmas art sale. It will be held at the home of Nancy Grecco and Steven Weeg at 442 S. Garfield Ave. in Pocatello. Hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. After you are done browsing the art, stop by the Old Town Actors Studio at 427 N. Main St., Suite G to catch a performance of "Sorry! Wrong Chimney!" The holiday comedy can be seen tonight and Saturday night as well as Dec. 11-13. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 7 and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. The theater has limited seating, so reserving your tickets is required. Call 478-6886.

Being as the Christmas holiday is only 20 days away, many fundraisers and performances this weekend have a holiday theme.

In Blackfoot, The Youth Service Club of Modern Woodmen of America will host the "Harvest and Holiday Market" fundraiser tonight and Saturday at the Blackfoot Community Center in Blackfoot. Hours are 6 to 10 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Get your picture taken with Santa on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. for only $1. Raffle tickets at $1 each will be available. The market features decor, gifts, crafts and treats. For more information, call 681-0367 or 785-8022.

The public is invited to attend a rehearsal of the annual "Messiah Sing-In" program on Sunday night at 7 p.m. at the Highland LDS Stake Center at 2140 Satterfield Dr. in Pocatello. All choral singers who would like to practice the choruses of the "Messiah" prior to the concert can attend rehearsal Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. at the Highland Stake Center. Choral books will be provided. The 24th annual sing-in will be held on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. at the stake center.

Get down to Blackfoot tonight to listen to The Idaho Falls Symphony and Mariachi Chamapana Nevin perform at the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center, 870 S. Fisher St. at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 or $15 and available at Tweedy's Music or call 317-5508.

Other big events happening in Southeast Idaho this weekend include the Aid for Friends second annual Cadwell Park Encampment. This event is meant to raise public awareness of what it is like to be homeless. Volunteers will spend Saturday night in cardboard shelters in the park. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army on Center St. and there will be activities throughout the day. The event is sponsored by the churches of the Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship and supported by many local organizations and businesses.

Also, the 2008 First Lego League regional qualifier will be today and tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Building at Idaho State University. More than 45 teams from Southeast Idaho and northern Utah will take part. Ages are 9 to 14, and the teams will be judge on their robot design, project presentation, teamwork and robot performance. The event is being hosted by Idaho State University Engineering, Arts and Sciences, with Energy Systems Technology and Education Center.
