POCATELLO - Writer J. Ely Shipley will discuss his personal experiences as a transgendered person Nov. 19, 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bear River Room at the Student Union at Idaho State University.
The free public lecture s sponsored by the Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center and ISU Department of English and Philosophy, in conjunction with National Transgender Day of Remembrance.
The day commemorates Rita Hester, who was murdered Nov. 18, 1998, and to memorialize victims who have died due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. Shipley currently lives in Salt Lake City.
