POCATELLO - A woman implicated in a scheme to befriend and then rob Hispanic migrant workers was sentenced Monday to a two-year fixed, three-year indeterminate sentence. The sentence was suspended and the woman will be placed on probation.

Jenny Flores, 24, was originally charged with two felony counts of conspiracy to commit robbery. Flores pleaded guilty to one count in exchange for the second count's dismissal.

Police alleged that Flores and Christine Evans, 28, befriended the workers, gaining their trust and waiting until the workers cashed their paychecks. The men were then alleged to have been lured to an east side Pocatello location, where Nathan Pufall, 25, appeared with a rifle, robbing the victims of their money.

During Monday's hearing before Sixth District Judge David Nye, Flores' father testified that his daughter would obey the rules of probation.

"I don't think she would do anything to put herself back in this position," Albert Flores said. "She's real scared, and I'm real scared for her."

Flores' counsel, Rocky Wixom, said that his client did not realize that guns would be involved in the scheme when she and Evans lured the men to a home.

"She thought they were going to slip them some Mickeys into their drinks," he said. "She didn't know Pufall would come out with a rifle."

A Mickey Finn, or Mickey, is slang for a drink laced with a drug to induce unconsciousness or incapacitation.

Flores told Nye she deeply regretted her actions.

"I know it's one of the dumbest mistakes I've ever made and I've really learned my lesson," Flores said.

Pufall changed his plea to guilty two weeks ago to two counts of armed robbery in the incident. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 1 before Sixth District Judge Peter D. McDermott. Evans, charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery and one count of possession of a controlled substance, has yet to have her trial date set.
