POCATELLO - A contractor working at Idaho State University's Heat Plant was injured Thursday afternoon after falling 8-10 feet into an ash hopper.
The man, an employee with local contractor Guy Nielson Co., was photographing work that had been done inside a boiler when he apparently stepped back and fell into the cement-lined pit. The company is currently rebricking the boiler's interior.
The man was lifted from the pit and transported by ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. The extent of his injuries were unknown, but he appeared to have suffered a head injury. Workers at the scene said the man never lost consciousness.
Company President Craig Yadon said the man was undergoing a CT scan but declined to release any additional information.
