POCATELLO - Registration to vote in the Nov. 4 general election will close on Oct. 10, but if you fail to make it to the Bannock County Elections Office before that date, all is not lost.

Idaho's Absent Electors Voting Place provision allows would-be voters to register at the polling place on the day of the election. Registrants need merely show identification, complete a registration card and swear to the veracity of the information on the application.

Proof of residence can be a driver's license, a document with a valid address in the precinct along with a picture identification card, or a current valid student I.D. and fee statement from a post-secondary Idaho educational institution.

If you are unsure of the polling place for your precinct, you may call the county elections office at 236-7330, or go online to www.idahovotes.gov/YourPollingPlace/ and enter your county of residence, your house number and the first three letters of your street name. Note that the house number refers to your home address, not the legislative house district you reside in.
