There are so many things going on, it would be impossible to get to everything. But it might be fun to try!

Africa Night will be held Saturday in the Pond Student Union Ballroom at Idaho State University from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be a fashion show, dancing, food from several African nations and more.

Tickets are on sale at the Pond Student Union from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Rendezvous Complex from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Costs are $6 for ISU students, $7 for ISU faculty and staff, and $9 for the public. The Soda Springs Winter Carnival is Saturday. The carnival includes the popular fishing derby. Register at 6:30 a.m.; fishing is allowed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is open to all ages and licenses are not required. Entry fee is $15 for adults and $5 for kids 14 and under. Two fish are allowed for the fee and each additional fish costs $1. There will be prizes.

The carnival also will feature a snowmobile fun run. Suggested donations are $10 for adults and $5 for youth 14 and under. The event is not timed, but riders must be back by 4 p.m. Machine rental is available. Call Carl Erickson at 547-4582 or Dale Mason at 547-3911.

The next installment of ISU's "Season of Note" concert series will be held Saturday when "Barrage," a fiddle group from Canada, brings its talent to the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Art Center.

Tickets are $29 for the main level and $25 for the upper level. They can be purchased at the Stephens Performing Arts Center Box Office from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays or over the phone at (208) 282-3595 or online at www.isu.edu/tickets.

There are many events Monday and throughout the week to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including a march Monday beginning at 1:30 p.m. at ISU's Holt Arena. Internationally recognized speaker Nontombi Naomi Tutu will give a keynote lecture on Thursday, Jan. 22, in the Wood River Room at the Pond Student Union Building at 7 p.m.
