POCATELLO - A Tuesday night fire inside of a box car at Pacific Recycling was caused when sparks from torches and sheers used by the company to cut metal ignited insulation, Pocatello Fire Division Chief David Gates said Wednesday.

Gates said smoldering inside of insulation can go undetected for a long period of time. The fire was reported after 6 p.m. at the recycling yard, located at 3575 Highway 30. The company acquires old box cars and cuts them into pieces to reuse the metal.
