POCATELLO - A man brandishing a handgun robbed the Arby's restaurant at 791 Yellowstone Ave. at approximately 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

The man was described as being in his early 20s, of unknown height and ethnicity. Witnesses said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black bandana covering his nose and mouth.

"Apparently he pushed open the drive-through window at Arby's while one of the clerks was counting up the daily receipts and apparently produced a hand gun, threatened the clerk, left with an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot in an unknown direction," said Pocatello Police Capt. Steve Findley.

No one was injured in the incident.

Findley said Pocatello had 12 robberies in 2008, although several were simple thefts that were charged as robberies because the culprits made threatening gestures.

"You can write about a third of those off as somebody grabbing some beer and running out of a store and saying 'Don't call the police or I'll kill you,'" Findley said. "We actually have a pretty low robbery rate."

A Nov. 29 armed robbery of the Alternative Video Store on South Fifth Street is still under active investigation, according to Findley. He said the two robberies do not appear to be connected.
