North Fremont 59, American Falls 27

ASHTON - Senior Jessica Swanson scored 16 points, but they weren't near enough for the American Falls girls' basketball team, which lost 59-27 to 2A North Fremont on Friday in its season opener.

Shayla Bell added six points for the 3A Beavers, who fell behind 38-11 at half.

"We need to work on our defense," said Brekelle Deeg, American Falls' first-year coach. "We can always get buckets to go, but nothing dropped tonight."

American Falls (0-1) will host 2A Aberdeen at 7:30 p.m. today.
