A construction worker from Boise fell to his death Tuesday morning while working on a roof at an Ammon residence.
Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies, Idaho Falls Ambulance and Ammon Fire Department personnel responded at 10:38 a.m. to the 4100 block of E. Fairview Drive in Ammon to a report of an injured man, a sheriff’s office news release said.
The sheriff’s office on Wednesday identified the victim as 43-year-old Salvador Hidalga.
Hidalga was employed by a roofing company doing repairs on the residence at the time of the incident. Other employees from the company attended to Hidalga and began CPR while emergency personnel were en route. Once emergency responders arrived on scene, they continued life-saving measures but were unable to revive Hidalga, who succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives and the Bonneville County Coroner’s Office are investigating the incident.
Thousands of Idaho Falls and Ammon residents saw homes and cars damaged by an April 7 hail storm. Hail caused significant damage to roofs and the repair work has attracted roofing contractors from across the country to complete repairs covered by insurance.
