ROCKLAND - North Gem held Rockland to just one second-quarter point on its way to a 51-31 win Wednesday at Rockland.

"Our defense looked really, really good," North Gem coach Corry Hatch said. "Our ball pressure just seemed to keep Rockland out of sync."

Rockland attempted four free throws all night, compared to North Gem's 25. The Cowboys hit 21 of those attempts.

Bailey Simmons led three North Gem scorers in double digits with 11 points. Carisa Robinson scored 12 points to pace Rockland.

"The second quarter, they came out and hit us in the mouth, and we quit battling," Rockland coach Vern Nelson said. "The kids became very non-aggressive."

North Gem (4-3, 1-0 2A Fifth District) next travels to play Cokeville, Wyo., on Friday. Rockland (3-4, 0-1) next travels to play Oakley on Saturday.
