Marsh Valley 44, Malad 34

MALAD - The Malad girls' basketball team showed improvement, but it wasn't enough to overcome 3A Marsh Valley on Saturday.

The Eagles beat the 2A Dragons 44-34 behind 10 points each from Shantae Brown and Abby Williams.

With solid defense down low, particularly by Ally Hoyt, Malad stayed with Marsh Valley early and trailed only 10-8 after the first quarter. However, the Eagles' outside shooters found their touch in the second quarter to build a 25-15 halftime lead.

Malad is now 0-3 on the season and will host Firth on Tuesday. Marsh Valley (2-2) will host South Fremont that same night.
