MONTPELIER - Bear Lake turned on its defensive pressure to beat West Side 49-27 at home Wednesday and avenge a 48-40 beating at the hands of the Pirates on Nov. 25.

"The girls had a lot of energy tonight," Bear Lake coach Jim Mattson said. "We just played really good defense. I was really proud of the girls."

Bear Lake held West Side to just seven first-half points. Kayla Wallentine led the Bears with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Trezlyn Bartschi returned from a groin injury to score 10 points.

Bear Lake (3-6) next hosts Grace tonight.
