Thunderstorms, cold temps, rain and mountain snow.

That's the Memorial Day weekend forecast for East Idaho and it's possible the precipitation could continue past Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service issued its second weather briefing of the week on Friday to warn the public about the stormy weather that's expected in East Idaho Friday afternoon through Monday.

Severe thunderstorms with gusts of up to 55 mph are in the forecast for East Idaho Friday afternoon and evening. The threat of thunderstorms will continue for the entire Memorial Day weekend in East Idaho so please be on the lookout for deteriorating conditions.

Higher elevation snow is also in the forecast for East Idaho Friday through Monday, with 2 to 6 inches expected. More mountain snow could fall on East Idaho on Tuesday as well.

Rain is in the forecast for East Idaho Saturday through Monday, with over an inch expected.

Saturday through Monday will also see temperatures in East Idaho take a plunge, with overnight lows forecast to be in the 30s and 40s and daytime highs in the 40s and 50s.
