CHUBBUCK — Grace Assisted Living is holding a dinner, fundraiser and silent auction for one of its nurses who is currently battling stage four breast cancer.

Sierra Saiz, activity coordinator at Grace, said the fundraiser will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18. She said the nurse’s name is Amber Williams.

”We’re opening it up to the public and taking donations for a raffle,” Saiz said. “All proceeds will go to Amber.”

Saiz said Williams works with OneSource, which contracts with Grace Assisted Living. She is also a single mother with two children. The money raised from this fundraiser will benefit them as well.

”We’re hoping to raise funds to help her afford rent and medical bills,” Saiz said.

Grace hopes to raise around $4,000 for Williams.

”We’ll be happy to exceed that,” Saiz said.

Everyone is encouraged to come to the fundraiser and support Williams and her family. Any amount of money raised will be appreciated.

”We’re posting on Facebook, and I’m reaching out to people I know,” Saiz said.

Amber Moore is a nurse who knows Williams well and planned this event. She said Williams is a loving person who is always thinking of ways to help others.

”She always wants to help the patient that has no family support or any services from other people,” Moore said.

When Williams was first diagnosed, she met another woman in the same situation she was. This other woman was struggling to afford treatment, and Williams immediately wanted to help her.

”She called me and said she wanted to help her out,” Moore said. “She said ‘how can I help this lady.’”

Moore organized this fundraiser because she wanted to help Williams in whatever way she could.

”I’m trying to raise as much money as I can for her,” Moore said. “She needs it. She’s got a good heart and is super compassionate. She cares about people before herself.”

Moore encouraged everyone to consider coming to the fundraiser or making a donation. Prizes for the auction include a mountain bike and oil paintings.

Donations can be made by scanning the QR Code on the flyer or mailing The Alice Foundation at PO Box 166, Eagle, Idaho 83616.

”The Foundation is a nonprofit,” Moore said. “Whatever people donate is a tax write off.”

Williams expressed gratitude to everyone who put this fundraiser together. She said it will help to support her, her two children and their dog.

”It’s a very kind thing to do,” Williams said.

Williams has been a nurse for the past 15 years, but she has been unable to work since her diagnosis back in August.

”My dad was a nurse,” Williams said. “I grew up knowing that I wanted to be a nurse.”
