IDAHO FALLS - Pocatello played precisely the kind of football game it wanted to against 5A Skyline, a 44-17 win that was well in hand after three quarters on Thursday at Ravsten Stadium in Idaho Falls.

The victory improved the top-ranked Indians' record to 6-0 on the season, one week before the Black and Blue Bowl against Highland and two weeks before a key 4A Fifth District matchup with Century.

"It was good because we came out healthy, and we were able to let the backups play the fourth quarter," said Poky coach Tom Harrison. "That's always a good feeling as a coach, when you let your younger guys play, because they're all deserving."

Pocatello scored the first 23 points of the game and led 44-3 entering the final quarter. Wes Howard ran for three touchdowns, and quarterback Hayden Green threw two touchdowns and ran in himself for another score.

Michael Decker caught both of Green's touchdown throws.

Now Pocatello will have a week to prepare for its game against Highland (3-2), which plays Idaho Falls tonight.

"The big tests are coming," Harrison said. "Now it's time for our kids to start focusing on the next two games."
