BURLEY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the dates for the open house and dedication for the Burley Idaho Temple.

According to a news release from the church, members of the media will be invited to tour the temple on Monday, Nov. 3. Other invited guests will have their tours on Tuesday, Nov. 4 and Wednesday, Nov. 5. The public open house will begin on Thursday, Nov. 6 and will continue through Saturday, Nov. 22. There will be no tours on Sundays during this time.

The dedication will be held on Sunday, Jan. 11, and the dedicatory session will be broadcast to all the congregations in the Burley Idaho Temple district.

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the Burley Idaho Temple during the April 2021 General Conference.

“Temples are a vital part of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness,” Nelson said in his conference address. “Ordinances of the temple fill our lives with power and strength available in no other way.”

This temple will be the seventh temple to be dedicated in Idaho. The others are Boise, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Pocatello, Rexburg and Twin Falls. Other Idaho temples that have been announced are the Caldwell, Coeur d’Alene, Montpelier and Teton River temples.

There are about 481,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints living in Idaho. Early church members have been living in Idaho since 1855. Several former church leaders such as Harold B. Lee, Ezra Taft Benson and Howard W. Hunter were Idaho natives.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worship in temples to learn more about God’s plan for his children and about the gospel of Jesus Christ. They also go to the temple to make promises to God and their spouses so their families can be united forever.
