POCATELLO — “The Nutcracker,” now in its 19th year, and produced by Alliance Academy of Dance’s ballet, will have performances Dec. 19-21 at Frazier Hall Theatre.

About the academy:

Alliance Academy of Dance is recognized as one of Idaho’s most prestigious dance institutions. Since opening, the school has been a foundation of classical ballet training, competitive dance and performance opportunities in the southeast region. Lead by directors Whitney Morden, Sergiu Brindusa and Beth Moore, students ages 3 and older receive dance education from experienced professional teachers. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to provide a base of strong classical ballet technique with emphasis on placement, musicality and artistry.

The school is comprised of four divisions: ballet division, competitive division, recreational division and pre-professional ballet division, which is a day program for dancers wishing to pursue a career in dance.

Students ages 3-8 learn the foundations of dance and creative movement. At age 5, dancers are allowed to audition for the academy’s award-winning competitive division and perform in the annual “Nutcracker” and spring ballet, such as “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Coppelia” and “Swan Lake.”

The recreational division is for students aged 3 through 8 looking to learn or continue their dance education in a fun and enjoyable environment without the stress of being in a pre-professional track.

Many of our students are accepted into elite summer programs around the world with scholarships and are recognized as top participants at regional competitions, like Youth America Grand Prix as well as major national dance conventions.
