IDAHO FALLS — Communications and business professionals are invited to a Sept. 13 media roundtable luncheon featuring Travis Quast, Adams Publishing’s regional president and publisher for its East Idaho Group, and Kalvin Pike, general manager for NPG of Idaho. Hosted by Melaleuca: The Wellness Company, attendees may register at prsaidaho.org by Sept. 10.
During the luncheon, Quast and Pike will discuss the current state of media, share the breadth and editorial focuses of their news organizations, and provide tips on how attendees can effectively build relationships with journalists and understand their needs. Attendees will also learn more about eastern Idaho’s media market and what editors look for when covering local and regional stories.
In 2018, Quast was appointed as regional president and publisher of the East Idaho Group for Adams Publishing, which has 18 daily and weekly news outlets in Idaho including the Post Register, Idaho State Journal and the Bingham News Chronicle. He previously served as the publisher of the Twin Falls Times-News, The Voice in Idaho and the Elko Daily Free Press in Nevada. He serves on the board of directors for the Newspaper Association of Idaho and is a member of the University of Idaho Journalism and Mass Media Advisory committee. He earned his bachelor’s degree in public communication from the University of Idaho.
Pike has spent the bulk of his 30-plus year career as a TV station sales manager helping businesses expand their awareness to potential customers and ultimately increase their business revenues. Pike has worked in Bakersfield, California; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; and El Paso, Texas. He is now on his second stint in Idaho Falls as the general manager of Local News 8 ABC, CBS, FOX, CW and Telemundo affiliates.
“If you want to better understand eastern Idaho’s media landscape and generate insights into how your organization can have meaningful connections with them, you’ll want to attend this special event,” said Tony Lima, APR, Melaleuca’s vice president of public relations and PRSA Idaho board member. “Travis and Kalvin’s insights can help you strengthen your media relations skills, think creatively about branding opportunities and position your organization for success.”
