SHELLEY — A Shelley man ended a standoff with police and SWAT officers Wednesday night by walking out of a mobile home in which he had barricaded himself.

Jeffery Fredrickson, 34, faces a charge of felony aggravated battery and is in custody at the Bingham County Jail.

Shelley police and Bingham County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a battery in a trailer park at 275 W. Oak St. in Shelley, according to a release from Shelley police.

Upon arrival police and deputies learned that the alleged victim and Fredrickson had been involved in a physical altercation inside a shared trailer, police said. During the incident, Fredrickson allegedly bit and struck the other person.

The victim escaped and looked for help, police said. During this time, Fredrickson barricaded himself inside the trailer and refused to exit or communicate with law enforcement.

Due to the violent nature of the incident and the potential presence of weapons, additional resources were requested by police. Detectives with the Bingham County Joint Investigations Division and SWAT officers with the STAR team responded to assist.

After a short period, Fredrickson exited the trailer following phone conversations with a family member and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Court hearings have not yet been scheduled for Fredrickson, who faces a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment for aggravated battery.
