The Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot will take place as scheduled next year.
Brandon Bird, EISF general manager, said Tuesday the state fair is confirmed for Sept. 4-12.
But the Western Idaho Fair held at Expo Idaho in Garden City, just outside Boise, announced that it’s changing its fair dates beginning in 2028.
The Western Idaho Fair’s 2026 dates are set for Aug. 21-30, keeping its traditional late-August 10-day summer slot.
For 2027, the Western Idaho Fair will shift to an earlier, longer three-weekend format, running Aug. 13-29, but will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays during that period as part of a new schedule pattern.
The Western Idaho Fair, in 2028, will officially move to the first Friday of August, running Friday, Aug. 4, through Sunday, Aug. 20, establishing a new annual timeline that spans three weekends and avoids the back-to-school rush.
“We will be evaluating what that means for the fair and our processes here in the next six months or so,” Bird said. “Because it may impact us.
“Nothing is going to be affected in 2026 or most likely 2027,” Bird said.
