MONTPELIER - Bear Lake outlasted Grace in a fast-paced fourth quarter to prevail 58-53 at home Wednesday.

Bear Lake never led by more than five points at the end of any quarter and entered the fourth holding a 36-32 advantage. Spencer Smedley, who scored a team-high 16 points, hit four free throws down the stretch to help Bear Lake outscore Grace 22-21 in the final period and seal the win.

"Grace came out and got after us," Bear Lake coach Brandon Carlsen said. "We didn't execute on offense as well as we needed to."

Todd Lloyd scored 16 points to lead Grace.

Bear Lake (3-1) next travels to play Rich County (Utah) today.
