Idahoans United for Women and Families will host drive-through petition signature gathering events across the state on Election Day, giving Idaho voters the opportunity to sign the Reproductive Freedom & Privacy Act petition while participating in local elections.

While Idaho law prohibits advocacy activity within 250 feet of polling places, Idahoans United volunteers will staff convenient, accessible locations respecting this required distance from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Tuesday. The effort is part of a statewide campaign to meet the rigorous requirements of Idaho’s citizen-led ballot initiative process and qualify the measure for the November 2026 ballot.

The Drive & Sign location in Idaho Falls will be at the Unitarian Universalist Church Parking Lot at 555 E St.

Idahoans United for Women and Families is a statewide, nonpartisan organization advocating to restore access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare.

“Across Idaho, more than 1,000 volunteers have stepped up to collect signatures in their hometowns—at farmers markets, festivals and door-to-door in their neighborhoods,” said Melanie Folwell, executive director of Idahoans United. “But winter is coming, which means it will be harder to reach people. That’s why we are meeting voters where they are — at the polls — to make it as simple as possible to participate. Idaho’s citizen initiative process has rigorous standards, but we’re moving at full speed to collect more than 70,000 signatures by the spring and ensure this measure will be on your ballot next fall.”

The initiative would re-establish the legal standard that Idaho had for nearly 50 years, Folwell said, one that allowed reproductive healthcare decisions to be made privately by patients, in consultation with their doctors. It would override the state’s current near-total ban and ensure protections for care in cases of pregnancy complications and risk to the patient’s life.
