IDAHO FALLS — A resident was rescued and a dog died in a Sunday morning fire that destroyed an Idaho Falls home, the Fire Department said.

The department was dispatched to the scene around 10 a.m. after callers reported black smoke coming from the manufactured home on West Elswood Drive, followed by visible flames, fire officials said.

Fire crews arriving on scene immediately began an aggressive fire attack while searching the home for occupants, according to the department.

During the search, firefighters located a resident inside and were able to remove the individual from the burning home. Crews provided emergency medical care before the person was transported via ambulance to a local hospital, fire officials said.

The person's name and condition have not been released.

A dog was also found inside the home but did not survive the fire.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, though the home and its contents are a complete loss, according to the department.

The cause of the house fire remains under investigation.
