POCATELLO — The Pocatello Art Center will host its First Friday Art Walk at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, showcasing 27 hand-painted violins from the Idaho State-Civic Symphony’s Painted Violin Project.

“Music to the Eyes” features one-of-a-kind instruments painted by local artists as part of the symphony’s fundraiser, according to a news release from the Pocatello Art Center. The hand-painted violins transform functional musical instruments into works of visual art, demonstrating the intersection of different creative disciplines.

The violins will remain on display at the art center through Feb. 19. Each instrument will be auctioned off, with final bidding taking place at the symphony’s Bad Snacks concert March 20 at the Stephens Performing Arts Center.

“This creative collaboration merges music, art and community engagement, with all proceeds supporting youth educational programs,” the news release said.

The First Friday Art Walk will also feature wildlife artwork created by area students in a fall workshop led by local artist Dallen Lambson. The student showcase highlights emerging talent from the community and provides young artists an opportunity to display their work alongside established pieces.

In addition, the art center will present new works by Pocatello Art Center members, offering visitors a diverse range of artistic styles and mediums in one evening.
