The AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, a national leader in Medicaid managed care, announced a $70,000 contribution Tuesday to The Idaho Foodbank in Meridian to support access to food for children and families across Idaho.

The Idaho Foodbank serves all of Idaho’s 44 counties through facilities in Meridian, Pocatello, and Lewiston and a network of more than 400 community distribution partners. Every $10 donated helps provide food for up to 20 meals for Idahoans facing food insecurity.

“Developing effective partnerships with community-based organizations, such as The Idaho Foodbank, is central to how AmeriHealth Caritas delivers on our mission to help people get care, stay well and build healthy communities,” said Charlene Vickers, AmeriHealth Caritas director of community impact. “When families can count on nutritious food it supports whole-person health and can help improve the overall well-being of vulnerable populations.”

According to the most recent Map the Meal Gap report, 12.7 percent of Idahoans are food insecure. The Idaho Foodbank distributed enough food to provide up to 21 million meals in its last fiscal year. Through its programs and its partner network, The Idaho Foodbank serves an average of 216,000 people each month.

This contribution builds on recent efforts of both AmeriHealth Caritas and the AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation to address food insecurity. In 2025 the company and the foundation invested a combined $6.6 million nationwide in and dedicated nearly 37,000 volunteer hours to improving food security.
