BOISE — A ride-share driver will be sentenced later this year after a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a passenger.

Zkaria Mahmmd Al Majzoub, 44, was found guilty by a jury on June 6 of rape, forcible penetration by use of foreign object and first-degree kidnapping, all felonies.

The maximum sentence for rape in Idaho is life in prison.

According to a news release from the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office, on Aug. 6, 2024, Al Majzoub drove the victim to a remote area — after deviating from the calculated Lyft route — and sexually assaulted her. The victim had previously informed her friend that she was on her way home, and when “significantly more time passed than expected,” the friend checked the victim’s whereabouts and noticed “something was wrong.”

“Their quick action allowed them to promptly report the situation to law enforcement, enabling officers to locate the defendant without delay,” the release states.

Al Majzoub pleaded not guilty to the three felony charges on Nov. 20, 2024 and will be sentenced on Sept. 9 by Ada County District Court Judge Peter Barton.

“On behalf of the State, we would like to thank the jury for their careful attention to the evidence,” Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts stated.
