Kyle Kener was the difference-maker for the Century boys' soccer team on Thursday.

The junior midfielder set up Ben Devaud on the go-ahead goal and scored an insurance marker in the final minutes of the Diamondbacks' 3-1 victory over Pocatello at Hawthorne Park. The win continued Century's dominance of its rivalry with Pocatello and got it off to a perfect start in the 4A Fifth District. For his role in that victory, Kener is the Idaho State Journal's Athlete of the Week.

According to coach Rufus Van Dyke, Kener is one of eight Century players who have contributed a goal to the Diamondbacks' cause this season. Against Pocatello, three different players found the back of the net, with Nick Rodriguez getting Century's first goal of the match.

Century is currently 3-1-2 overall and 1-0-0 in 4A Fifth District play. The Diamondbacks play another district game on Tuesday night at Preston.
