ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Idaho State softball team dropped its first two games of the fall season, losing 4-1 to San Jose State and 6-4 against Northern Colorado on Friday at the Red Devil Classic.
Bengals freshman Jennifer Martensen homered in her first career at-bat in the San Jose State loss, but the Spartans rallied off starter Kandis Clesson in the fifth inning for the win.
Cleanup hitter Jessica Baca also homered for the Bengals in the second game for her first career blast, but the Bears tagged starter Cristin Martin for five runs in the fourth inning for the go-ahead rally.
Idaho State went 3-for-26 (.115) with runners on base in the two games, while its opponents batted 8-for-20 (.400) in the same situations.
