The Century girls' soccer team faced two in-city rivals this week, and sophomore Marais Hicks came up huge in both of the matches.

On Tuesday, Hicks scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Highland.

"It was a good shot," teammate Kallie Johns said of Hicks' goal. "I thought they would hurry and get on her as quick as they could. It was lucky (they didn't), and I'm glad we got it."

During 4A Fifth District tournament action on Thursday, Hicks again came up with the game-winner. She scored the first goal in the 75th minute of Century's 2-0 win over Pocatello.

For her efforts, Hicks is this week's Athlete of the Week.

Throughout the season, Hicks has been a threat in the Diamondbacks' attack, and she's played a large part in the team's 16-2-1 record thus far. Century will host the district championship Tuesday.
