Lynnsie Togiai
Century High
She didn't score the most points in Century's 53-52 4A Fifth District championship game win over Preston on Monday, but Lynnsie Togiai hit the biggest shots of the night.
With 4.8 seconds to play and the Diamondbacks trailing 52-51, the sophomore grabbed an offensive rebound and drew a foul before putting a shot back up.
After the Indians called two timeouts to try to freeze her, Togiai calmly hit both free throws to give her team the lead and its first state tournament bid since 2005.
"I was so nervous. I was really, really nervous," senior Brooke Dial said after the game about the final seconds. "But I had faith in her."
For the game, Togiai scored 12 points including the Diamondbacks' final five to help them rally from a late 52-48 deficit.
Togiai and her Century teammates will open the 4A state tournament at 1:15 p.m. Thursday against Bonneville at Mountain View High.
