MISSOULA, Mont. - The Idaho State volleyball team knew its weekend road swing through Montana was crucial.

To open the trip Friday at Montana, the Bengals got off to a good start, beating the Grizzlies 21-25, 25-20, 25-26, 25-16.

"Overall I thought we played fairly well," coach Chad Teichert in an Idaho State news release. "It was a good deal to come back and they have to do the best they can every set."

Senior Emily Waldron and sophomore Jaclyn Hone each recorded double-doubles. Waldron piled up 15 digs and 12 kills, while Hone had 14 and 13, respectively. Junior Haylee Thompson lead Idaho State with 16 kills, and senior Paige Palmer had a team-high 17 digs.

Sophomore setter Karissa Legaux had 44 assists.

The Bengals won despite being out-blocked by the Grizzlies 10-4.

It was Idaho State's first victory over Montana (5-10 overall, 1-3 Big Sky) in six tries, and the Bengals' last win in Missoula came on Nov. 12, 2005.

Idaho State (6-8, 2-3) will play at Montana State at 7 p.m. today.
