Highland junior Kylie Hutchison turned in two excellent races for the Rams' cross country team during the week. At the Bob Firman Invitational in Eagle, Hutchison finished ninth in her race and third among Idaho runners. Her time of 19:07.20 was almost good enough to put her in the top 20 had she run in the college race.

Hutchison was almost as good at the Kleinkopf Classic on Wednesday in Twin Falls. She ended up running a time of 19:40.00, but in the standings, she had improved to second. For those performances, she is the Idaho State Journal's Athlet of the Week.

"Kylie ran great," said her coach, Chris Belcher, after Hutchison's performance at the Bob Firman Invitational.

Belcher added that it was impressive to have a runner perform comparable to collegiate athletes while being only a junior in high school.

Highland's next scheduled meet is the Bob Conley Invitational at Highland on October 10.
