Rockland 36, North Gem 18
The Rockland Bulldogs held the North Gem Lady Cowboys to six points in the first half, and cruised to a 36-18 win Wednesday night in Rockland.
“Our kids came out and played great defense tonight,” said Bulldogs head coach Vern Nelson. “Just got down and ground it out.”
Freshman Stefani McClanahan had 10 points, Savannah Farr finished with 7 points and 10 boards and Kelsey Glenn added six steals with her game-high 12 points.
Rockland (8-6, 3-3 1A DII) travels to Clark County tonight.
Marsh Valley 53, Bear Lake 26
Behind a balanced scoring effort and stifling defense, the Marsh Valley Eagles beat the Bear Lake Bears 53-26 Wednesday in Arimo.
“The defense played really well tonight,” said Eagles head coach Kyle McQuivey. “They anticipated and moved well with the ball.”
Eight Marsh Valley players scored. Sophomore Faith Lolofie led the way with 10 points.
Third-ranked Marsh Valley improves to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the 3A Fifth District. The Eagles host American Falls Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Boys
Rockland 50, North Gem 39
Rex Perrmann scored a game-high 15 points, pulled down 10 rebounds and blocked six shots to lead Rockland to a 50-39 win over North Gem Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs built a 21-point halftime lead and cruised in the second half.
“We just started quick and then just held the lead,” Rockland head coach Scott Lish said.
Rockland (4-4, 2-1 1A DII) play at Clark County today at 7 p.m.
West Side 53, Malad 45
Malad fell behind by 17 in the first half and could not come back as West Side earned a 53-45 over the Dragons in Malad Wednesday.
The Dragons came out flat and the Pirates took advantage, building an 18-5 lead after one quarter.
“They buried us in the first quarter,” Malad head coach Sheldon Vaughan said. “We were not ready to play the game and they were. When you trail by 17 like we did it is tough to comeback.”
Tate Fuller led the Pirates with a game-high 20 points.
Brian Roedl scored nine points for Malad.
Malad (7-6, 2A Fifth District) play at Soda Springs Saturday at 7 p.m.
