Richfield 64, Rockland 32

RICHFIELD - Rockland couldn't keep up with Richfield, the state's top-ranked 1A Division II team, and dropped a 64-32 road decision Thursday.

Richfield (19-0) led 41-13 at halftime and outscored Rockland in every quarter but the fourth.

"They're just so precise with everything they do offensively and defensively," Rockland coach Vern Nelson said. "Our kids played hard, but they just didn't let us do a whole lot tonight."

Whitney Woodworth led the Bulldogs with 18 points, while Kambrie Munk had 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Rockland (7-9, 3-4) plays its final regular-season game Saturday against Clark County at home.

Jerome 64, Century 38

JEROME - In its last regular season game of the year, Jerome made easy work of Century, with a 64-38 victory in Jerome.

"This was a good way for us to end the regular season, but now we focus on what's ahead. The girls are ready for the playoffs," said Jerome assistant coach Scott Burton.

Much of the difference came via the boards, as Jerome held a 37-21 advantage over the Diamondbacks. Aubree Callen brought down 14 of those rebounds, and also scored 22 points for the Tigers. Carrie Thibault notched 12 points in the win.

Jerome (16-4, 4-2) begins conference tournament play on Tuesday, hosting Minico.

Hillcrest 66, Preston 56

IDAHO FALLS - Third-quarter turnovers cost Preston a 66-56 loss to Hillcrest on Thursday.

"We were kind of sporadic," said Preston assistant coach Belinda Taylor.

However, Taylor said Marssi Daniels had a very good game, coming through with a lot of big shots for the Indians in an attempt to keep the game close.

In the end, it was a spree of third-quarter turnovers by Preston and solid free-throw shooting by Hillcrest that settled the match.

"We made too many turnovers in the third quarter and they capitalized on them, after that we were playing catch up the rest of the game," said Taylor.

North Gem 55, Mackay 49

BANCROFT - Foul trouble and a bad start for the North Gem girls' basketball team didn't matter after the Cowboys turned a third-quarter streak of 3-pointers into a 55-49 home win over Mackay on Thursday.

"Honestly, we played bad in the first half. The refs were calling it tight and we had a lot of girls in foul trouble going into halftime," said North Gem coach Corry Hatch.

However, the Cowboys came out strong in the third quarter and were able to save some of the players in foul trouble for use later in the game.

Hatch said it was a hard-fought game with a total of 72 foul shots, but his team's persistence made the difference against Mackay.

The North Gem girls go to 13-7 on the season and 6-1 in the Rocky Mountain Conference. They will play Leadore on Saturday.

Snake River 44, Bear Lake 14

MORELAND- An injury plagued Bear Lake failed to find an offensive rhythm against the Panthers, who walked away with a 44-14 home victory Thursday.

"When we played them last, we it came down to a last-second shot, but tonight they (Bear Lake) were on the road and had quite a few girls that were out because of injuries," said Snake River coach Steven Morton.

Morton, however, did say he was very happy with his team's defensive performance and was glad to get the opportunity to get floor time for a lot his players.

The Panthers remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0 and move to 13-6 overall.

Wrestling

Cully Hendricks of Century remains strong in the 119-pound weight class throughout the duals, with one dominating technical fall over Austin Weaver of Grace and one major decision over Brandon Robinson of Bonneville.

Carson Glover has also done his share for Century at the 171-pound weight class, finishing off Eric Hays of Soda Springs with a pin in under two minutes, and Brady Minor of Hillcrest with a major decision 14-1.

As a team, however, the Diamondbacks were only able to defeat Grace 17-12 out of the host of teams they have faced this week.
