Highland went 1-1 on Friday at the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic, beating Ridgevue 11-1 in five innings before losing at Timberline 8-2.
In game one at Timberline High, the Rams toppled Ridgevue behind eight hits. Grayson Hunt pitched five innings of two-hit ball.
Timberline combined for seven runs in the fifth and sixth frames to upend the Rams, who tallied four hits and five errors. Seth Nate had the Rams’ lone RBI.
Highland (6-3) closes Buck’s Bags Saturday at Capital High against Corvallis (Oregon).
TIMBERLINE 10, POCATELLO 2
Pocatello lost 10-2 at Timberline on Friday at the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic.
The Indians left eight runners on base and had four errors. Timberline put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth inning.
Hunter Casper had three hits and two RBIs to pace the Indians.
Pocatello (5-4, 3-1 4A District 4-5) closes Buck’s Bags on Saturday against Centennial.
BISHOP KELLY 4, BLACKFOOT 0
BLACKFOOT 8, JEROME 7
Blackfoot went 1-1 on Friday at the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic at Vallivue High, losing 4-0 to Bishop Kelly before beating Jerome 8-7.
The Broncos left 11 runners on base against the Knights and had three errors, leading to three unearned runs to the team’s pitching staff. Carter Cooper had two hits in the loss.
"We didn't put the ball in play enough," Blackfoot coach Liam Pope said.Â
Blackfoot held off Jerome’s late rally to win the nightcap. Jerome scored all of its runs over the final three frames. Juan Pimentel closed the game, getting two consecutive outs with the game-tying run on third base.
Blackfoot (3-2-1, 0-1 4A District 6) closes the Classic Saturday against South Albany (Oregon) at Timberline High.
NAMPA 13, CENTURY 11 (6)
Century lost to Nampa 13-11 in a back-and-forth six-inning game Friday in the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic at Rodeo Park in Nampa.
The D-backs fell behind 5-0 after three innings before taking a 7-5 lead after the top of the fourth. Nampa regained the lead 8-7 in the bottom of the frame and Century jumped ahead 10-8 after the top of the fifth. Nampa shut the door with a five-run fifth, taking a 13-10 advantage.
Skyler Warner led Century with four RBIs, four hits and three doubles.
Century (2-5, 2-2 4A District 4-5) finishes Buck’s Bags on Saturday against Reynolds (Oregon) at Vallivue High.
MARSH VALLEY 12, RIDGEVUE 5 (6)
Marsh Valley beat Ridgevue 12-5 in six innings Friday at Timberline High in the Buck’s Bags Spring Classic.
The Eagles jumped ahead early and led 7-0 after two innings. Riley Lloyd and James Bodily finished the game with two RBIs each for the Eagles, who had 10 hits as a team.
The Eagles (4-2) close Buck’s Bags Saturday against Canyon Ridge at Borah High.
SOFTBALL
POCATELLO 2, HUNTER (UTAH) 2
MERIDIAN 8, POCATELLO 6
Pocatello was winless Friday at a tournament at Meridian High, tying Hunter (Utah) 2-2 before falling 8-6 to Meridian.
Hunter scored two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game 2-2. Sydney Wilde had two hits to pace Poky.
Meridian scored five combined runs in the final two innings to beat the Indians, who led 6-3 after the top the sixth. Alyssa Winn had two hits and one RBI for Pocatello.
The Indians (5-1-1, 4-0 4A District 4-5) continue tournament play Saturday against Timberline and Bishop Manogue (Nevada).
BEAR LAKE 12, AMERICAN FALLS 9
Bear Lake scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to win 12-9 on Friday at American Falls.
The Bears trailed 6-3 heading into the seventh frame before tallying eight hits in the inning. The Bears combined for five hits in the first six frames. Makinzy Colvin finished the game with three RBIs and two hits.
American Falls’ Chevelle Barnes had a game-high four RBIs. Teammate KyRae Farmer added three RBIs.
Bear Lake (4-2) hosts Preston on Thursday. American Falls (0-4) hosts Soda Springs on Wednesday.
