POCATELLO —Bob Peters and Dan Pickens won the Night Owl 2-man best-ball golf scramble here Sunday, but they didn’t know it for sure until the final hole was complete. They got off to a fast start, going four under par after four holes, but then the putts stopped falling on the back nine, and they were just seven under par after 16 holes.

“We didn’t know how we stood at that point,” said Peters. “We thought a couple of other teams might have passed us. But it turned out everyone else was playing kind of bad too.”

Peters and Pickens started the day with a one-stroke lead after a nifty first round of 13 under par, one ahead of Rick and Shawn Bystrom and a lead of two strokes over Drew Damron and Greg Long on Saturday. But they were never sure they had a safe lead Sunday even after they birdied their last two holes.

They finished the day at Riverside nine under par, and 22 under for the tournament at 122, three strokes ahead of Damron and Long. The Bystrom father-and-son team was third at 126.

The twosomes of Brian Atkinson-Brock Buffat and Ty and Ryan Pearson were tied for fourth at 127. Russ Collins and Scott Lacy won the First Flight at 128 and Jeff Garner and Tony Warth topped the Second Flight at 130. A. Sluder and J. Smith won the Third Flight at 133, and J. Bischoff and J. Meyers were net winners in the Fourth Flight after a playoff.
