Idaho State offensive lineman Skyler Phillips was named a third-team Associated Press (AP) FCS All-America selection, announced Tuesday. The redshirt senior is the first Idaho State All-America pick since Justin Arias and Madison Mangum in 2014, and the school’s first AP All-American since Josh Hill in 2012.

Phillips played all over the Bengals’ offensive line in his five-year career. He anchored right guard in 2017, earning first-team all-Big Sky Conference honors.

Phillips started 44 games in his ISU career. He was part of an offensive line in 2014 that propelled the Bengals to an 8-4 record and multiple offensive milestones. He blocked for quarterbacks Arias and Tanner Gueller, who both rank highly in the school’s record books, and paved the way for the Bengals’ all-time leading rusher, tailback Xavier Finney.

Phillips also accepted an invitation to play in the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl, which showcases college football’s top seniors with NFL draft aspirations. The game is Jan. 27, 2018 at Ladd-Peebels Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.
