Idaho State’s Skyler Phillips and Mario Jenkins were named to the STATS FCS All-America teams, announced Tuesday. Jenkins was also put on the College Sports Madness third-team All-America defense.

Phillips, a redshirt senior offensive lineman, was named to the first-team offense. Jenkins, a redshirt senior linebacker, earned third-team defensive honors.

Tuesday’s All-America honor is the third for Phillips. He was previously named a third-team Associated Press (AP) All-American and first-team Phil Steele All-American. Phillips will play in the 2018 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Jan. 27, 2018 in Mobile, Alabama.

Jenkins earned his second and third All-America nods. He also earned fourth-team Phil Steele All-America honors. Jenkins and Phillips were both named first-team all-Big Sky Conference honorees, and Jenkins was one of 25 finalists for the Buck Buchanan Award, which honors the top defensive player in the FCS.

Jenkins and Phillips are the first Bengals to earn multiple All-America honors in the same season since Justin Arias and Madison Mangum did so in 2014.

AGUIRRE EARNS HONORABLE MENTION SOPHOMORE ALL-AMERICA

Idaho State sophomore safety Adkin Aguirre was named to the HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-America team, announced Monday.

Aguirre was second on the team with 80 tackles this season, while adding 2.5 tackles for loss and a team-best five interceptions. Aguirre’s five picks are tied for first in the Big Sky Conference and tied for 11th in the FCS.
