Trey Thomas scored four goals in Highland’s 7-3 home win Saturday over Bonneville.

The Rams were up 3-0 before Bonneville got on the scoreboard. The Bees moved within 3-2, but Highland took control from there.

Highland (4-4-1, 1-1 5A District 5-6) plays Wednesday at Rigby.

TETON 3, AMERICAN FALLS 2

American Falls suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, losing 3-2 at Teton.

Alex Cabrera and Daniel Pena scored for the Beavers (7-1-1, 2-0 3A District 5), who play Monday at South Fremont.

SUGAR-SALEM 2, MARSH VALLEY 0

Marsh Valley was stifled by Sugar-Salem in a 2-0 road loss Saturday.

The Eagles allowed goals in the middle of the first half and end of the game.

First-year Marsh Valley coach Devin Shurtliff said it is taking time for his team to adjust to his style of play.

“They’ve almost limited themselves because they’re afraid to make a mistake,” Shurtliff said. “They need to let the creativity come naturally.”

Marsh Valley (2-4, 0-1 3A District 5) hosts Snake River on Tuesday.

Blackfoot lost 4-0 at Thunder Ridge on Saturday. No other information was available.

The Broncos host Shelley on Wednesday.

SUGAR-SALEM 2, MARSH VALLEY 1

Sugar-Salem capitalized on Marsh Valley’s mistakes and beat the Eagles 2-1 at home Saturday.

Cami Harris scored Marsh Valley’s goal.

“In the future, we will work on not making the same mistakes,” Marsh Valley coach Rachelle Gilbert said. “They played pretty well, so that was promising.”

Marsh Valley (6-2-1, 2-0-1 3A District 5) hosts Snake River on Tuesday.

TETON 2, AMERICAN FALLS 0

Teton beat American Falls 2-0 on Saturday in what Beavers coach Nate Armstrong called a "frustrating" loss.

"We played pretty well and had much of the possession in the first half," Armstrong said. "The second half was more of a challenge to control the game and develop a rhythm due to some key injuries."

A.F. (6-4, 3-1 3A District 5) plays Thursday at Malad.

MALAD 7, FIRTH 1

Malad used a second-half surge to blow past Firth 7-1 on the road.

The Dragons outscored the Cougars 6-1 in the final 40 minutes.

“We came out slow in the first half,” Malad coach Shenell Clark said. “But they always come out and play great in the second half.”

Mikki Clark, Kinzlee Evans and Hailey Williams scored two goals apiece, while Brylee Clark added one goal for the Dragons (5-1-1, 0-1-1 3A District 5), who play Tuesday at Aberdeen.

Blackfoot at Jerome Invitational

Blackfoot went 5-1-1 Saturday at the Jerome Invitational, earning fifth place in the tournament.

“It was definitely a positive weekend,” Broncos coach Alisha Nebeker said. “Our team effort was really strong and they played really well together.”

Blackfoot (9-6-1, 1-0 4A District 6) plays Tuesday at Madison.

MARSH VALLEY 2, WEST SIDE 0

PRESTON 2, MARSH VALLEY 0

Marsh Valley went 1-1 on Saturday, sweeping West Side (25-23, 25-12) before being swept by Preston (16-25, 19-25).

In the win against West Side, Marissa Frazier served on 14 points, Shanae VanLeuven tallied 20 digs and Alexis Christensen had six kills on 13 attempts for the Eagles.

“They played well,” Marsh Valley coach Kimberly Call said. “Alexis stepped up in ways that I haven’t seen before. … She was louder, she was taking care of the ball and she was a force on the court.”

Marsh Valley (4-8) hosts Malad on Tuesday.
