Pocatello’s Natalie Beck led all District 5 girls in the 4A golf state championships at Twin Falls Golf Course on Tuesday, tying for 10th place after shooting a 30-over 174. Beck tied with Ridgevue’s Maya Elliot and Bishop Kelly’s Ava Defranco.

Twin Falls’ Brinlee Stotts beat Moscow’s Makena Rauch in a playoff to win the individual girls title.

Poky’s Abi Pearson tied for 17th, scoring a 180 and helping the Poky girls place fifth with a team score of 759. Twin Falls placed first with a 667.

Century scored a two-day 820 to finish ninth, led by Sofia Lippiello’s 183 and 22nd-place finish. Teammate Ciarra Carter placed 33rd with a 199.

In the boys tournament, Preston’s Garrett Kelley tied for ninth with a 4-over 148. The Preston golfer carded a 3-under 69 during Monday’s opening round before closing with a 7-over 79 Tuesday. Minico’s Gage Skaggs won the boys crown with a 7-under 137.

Preston’s Ethan Pearson shot a two-day 156, helping the team finish eighth with a 667. Minico took first with a 600 after beating Ridgevue in a playoff.

Pocatello’s boys placed 10th with a 728. Bridger Smith tied for 28th with a 162. Teammate Dylin Praska tied for 51st with a 184.

3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Two District 5 boys golfers finished in the top 10 Tuesday at the 3A golf state championships at Twin Falls’ Canyon Springs Golf Course.

American Falls’ Logan Mills tied for fourth place with Fruitland’s Jake O’Neil after carding a 12-over 154. Snake River’s Noah Watt placed eighth, scoring a 22-over 166. Mills and Watt carded a 79 and 83, respectively, on Tuesday. Homedale’s Daniel Uranga placed first with a 1-under 143.

Watt helped the Panthers finish fourth in the boys standings with a two-day score of 717. Fruitland took home the title with a 629. Snake’s Gus Murdock (184) tied for 17th, while teammates Anthony Harrison (189) and Jacob Lee (189) tied for 22nd.

Snake River’s Mia Harper led the local 3A girls with a seventh-place mark at state. The Panther carded a 25-over par 97 on Tuesday’s final day after a 17-over 89 on Monday’s opening day. Buhl’s Kylie Crossland won with a two-day score of 148.

Harper was the lone District 5 girl to finish in the top 15. Marsh Valley placed fifth in the team standings with an 892, 191 strokes behind first-place Buhl.

The Eagles’ Sadie Davids finished 18th with a 203, followed by teammates Mallory Davids (219), Emma Olsen (221) and Cheyenne Anderson (249), who finished 21st, 22nd and 25th, respectively.
