Belgium is battling one of its largest wildfires, despite cooler weather and rain. The blaze in the High Fens is moving near Germany and has burned around 30 square kilometers, or about 12 square miles. Firefighters from several countries are assisting, but some areas remain inaccessible. In Greece, a fire near Athens' main airport was quickly controlled, and investigators are looking into a deadly fire on Salamina island. In France, a fire in the southwestern Landes region is under control, allowing some residents to return home. Europe is experiencing one of its hottest summers on record.
