Teton Cancer Institute in Idaho Falls announced Wednesday it has been awarded national accreditation from the American Society for Radiation Oncology’s Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx).

“Earning APEx accreditation is a significant milestone that reflects the hard work and dedication of our physicians, nurses and support staff,” said Debra Fuelling, TCI director of oncology services. “This recognition affirms our commitment to provide patients with high quality cancer care close to home.”

APEx accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process that recognizes radiation oncology facilities for delivering the highest standards of quality and patient-centered care. By achieving APEx status, TCI joins an elite group of healthcare institutions nationwide that have demonstrated a commitment to safety, effectiveness and continuous improvement in radiation oncology.

To achieve APEx accreditation, facilities undergo a comprehensive, independent review of their policies, procedures and practices. The accreditation team evaluates treatment planning, safety protocols, patient communication and other trackers to determine if there is a culture of ongoing quality improvement.
