POCATELLO - For much of the populace, Feb. 1 will be simply Super Bowl Sunday. But for Eddie Romero, it's more akin to Christmas.
That is because Eddie's business, the Wing-It restaurant at Tough Guy Lanes, enjoys its biggest day of the year. Football fans and other revelers seize the occasion of the National Football League championship game to eat. And what they like, Romero says, are wings - hundreds of pounds of them on this day.
"It's about our biggest day of the year," says Romero, a Pocatello native who has been dispensing the spicy treat for years. Wing-It offers seven flavors, ranging from mild to "suicide," and he says the secret lies in the dipping sauce. He does not disclose all the ingredients, but says people like the "addictive tingle."
Romero opened a second restaurant last year at 4876 Yellowstone in Chubbuck, but he is closing that venue on, ironically, Super Bowl Sunday. He wants to concentrate on his original place of business at Tough Guy Lanes, which offers a full menu in addition to wings.
On this Sunday, however, it will be mostly wings flying out the door - until about 4 p.m., that is, after which customers will be watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals start to battle it out.
