POCATELLO — Pocatello-Chubbuck School District 25 has announced Chance Loynd as the new assistant principal and athletic director at Alameda Middle School.

Loynd will replace Molly Johnson, who was recently selected by the district to be principal of Greenacres Elementary School.

Raised in Southeast Idaho, Loynd is a graduate of Snake River High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational administration from Campbellsville University.

Loynd and his wife have been married for 12 years and are the parents of two children. The district said he and his family enjoy staying active, supporting their local community and spending time together.

“Chance’s experience as both an educator and coach, coupled with his commitment to student success, make him an outstanding addition to the Alameda leadership team,” said Douglas Howell, superintendent at Pocatello-Chubbuck School District 25. “We are excited to welcome him to PCSD 25 and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our learners, staff and families.”

Loynd brings six years of education experience to his position, recently serving as a teacher at Blackfoot Heritage Sixth Grade School, where he has spent the last five years. During his time at the school, he has also held a position as a Sources of Strength advisor — supporting students by helping them build resilience, strengthen their relationships and foster a positive culture.

Outside of the classroom, Loynd brings an expansive coaching repertoire to Alameda Middle School. He has coached wrestling at Mountain View Middle School and baseball at Blackfoot High School. Loynd has also instructed youth football, basketball and baseball.

“Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to creating positive learning environments where every learner has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed,” a School District 25 press release said. “In addition to his work in the classroom, Loynd brings extensive coaching experience to Alameda. His experiences in athletics have reinforced the values of teamwork, perseverance and leadership that he strives to model for students both in and out of the classroom.”
