A 21-year-old man remains in jail Monday after police say early Saturday morning he fired a BB gun at a group of people on Boise’s Greenbelt and attacked them with a stick.

Eleasar Frankes, who is described as having no permanent address, is accused of using a CO2-powered pistol to fire BBs at a group of people on the Greenbelt at about 12:30 a.m. near the Ninth Street bridge, according to Boise Police spokeswoman Haley Williams.

Officers believe he shot some of the people in the face and hands. A fight followed, during which police say Frankes attacked the victims with a stick, although none of them were seriously injured, according to Williams.

As police tried to arrest him, Frankes spit on the officers. Because of that, he was booked into the Ada County Jail on suspicion of two counts of assault on upon certain personnel, which are misdemeanors, as well as four counts of aggravated battery, a felony.

He is being held without bail.
