POCATELLO - The Pocatello Zoo is looking for a few good "Trackers." In this case, they're not people who track animals, they're the zoo's volunteers.

"The Pocatello Zoo really needs the help," said Liana Litsinger.

Litzsinger, a local high school teacher, volunteers as many hours as she can each year at the Pocatello Zoo in spite of her busy schedule.

"There is really room for anyone who wants to volunteer, no matter the area of interest, and no matter how few hours they have available."

Zoo Trackers can work behind the scenes in maintenance, building and zoo keeping; teach classes, read stories; present animals; help with special events; talk to zoo visitors, or just help with office work.

To volunteer as a zoo tracker, it isn't necessary to know anything about wildlife. According to Kate O'Conner, Curator of Education, the zoo has put together an individual training program for adult volunteers.

"We know that everyone is different and everyone has their own unique talents, so we have put together a fun and informative training program so anyone can feel at ease about joining the existing cadre."

The zoo is looking for adults who are enthusiastic, love animals and want to have fun.
