POCATELLO — Frank Angley and daughter Kelsey said that the outpouring of support from the community and the care and compassion of the staff at the Portneuf Medical Center is helping to restore their faith in humanity.

    Frank suffered a heart attack Friday on his way home from work. He managed to make it into his driveway, but collapsed when he exited the vehicle. As he crouched in the driveway with his medication spilled on the ground in front of him, Frank said an unknown passer-by grabbed his wallet and stole the cash from his paycheck — about $728.

    Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad reached out to Frank and Kelsey during a special meeting at City Hall Tuesday.

    Blad said he found about the incident from the newspaper and had tried to visit Frank and Kelsey at PMC Monday. But Frank, who said he felt like a Triple Crown winner, checked himself out of the hospital hours after stents were cleared in his heart. And true to form, he reported for work at 2 a.m. Tuesday.

    “I just wanted you to know that this is not indicative of our community,” Blad said during the meeting. “The most important thing is that you’re OK.”

    Frank, a warehouse manager at Powers Candy, stayed on the job until the lunch hour Tuesday, and he planned to work a full shift Wednesday morning.
