POCATELLO — A local family is searching for a new place to stay after a fire tore through their home Friday afternoon in a north Pocatello neighborhood.

Pocatello Fire Department crews responded to the house fire at 746 Hemlock St. near Lewis & Clark Elementary School around 1:30 p.m.

All occupants of the home safely evacuated and no injuries were reported but the residence suffered extensive damage, authorities said.

The fire started on the deck of the home and then spread to the kitchen, bathroom and attic, the Fire Department reported.

Firefighters moved quickly to extinguish the flames and keep the fire from spreading further.

“Unfortunately, the family has been displaced as a result of the fire,” the Fire Department stated via Facebook. “Crews are working with them to ensure they have access to the resources and support they need.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
