Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision which occurred on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:14 A.M. on I-84 at mile marker 256 near Malta.

A 2024 Ford F450 pulling a horse trailer was traveling westbound on I-84. The driver, a 74-year-old man from Layton, UT, experienced a medical emergency and drove off the road. The vehicle and trailer traveled through a fence, crossed the frontage road, and came to rest upright on the hillside. He died at the scene and was wearing his seatbelt.

His passenger, a 54-year-old female from Las Vegas, NV, was wearing her seatbelt and was not transported.

Idaho State Police were assisted at the scene by the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office, Malta EMS, Intermountain EMS and Lifeflight Network.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
